Freyja WIP

A while back I approached Marie Thorhauge, who is a design and concept artist. I was very keen on doing one of her designs and she was very exited for us to be working together. After a short but sweet browsing of her character designs I decided do a very lovely lady of hers.

2 hours:

 

The filler for the skirt, hair and dress insulation for houses. It was only a rough estimate of what I would need, because I could cut it away easily if it got in the way later during sculpting.

Coffee Girl

Here is the finished version of Coffee Girl. It was challenging to make such a thin, but top heavy character. The hair especially was fun to translate from 2D to 3D.

Coffee Girl WIP

Here is a very lovely design done by my very good friend Anne Torp. After some discussion we decided to change the original posture of her legs a little to really emphasize the sway in her hips and her attitude as a no nonsense woman.

I sketched the design beforehand, made a rough turnaround, just to get a bearing on the pose and her proportions:

Arrowman

Here is the painted and finished model. I also put it on a nice appropriate base w logo et all.
The model took me 33 hours to sculpt, the shield 5 and it probably took me 20 hours to paint and mount on a base.

Arrowman Before Painting

Okydokee. This commission is for a wedding present. It is a redesign of Jack Kirby's Captain America named Arrowman. It was used as a poster boy by the band Kashmir for a concert tour back in 2010.

 

We decided to keep it as close to the poster as possible so no fancy reposing of the character or anything. As he is very muscular and Jack Kirby took liberties with how anatomy sometimes work, I made a decision to make this a straightforward anatomical study and disregard style.

As it is a more permanent sculpture I used super sculpy. Was nice to try again after such a long time using chavant clay.

 

 



I had a lot of fun making the cloth fold. Later on I made the shield and then painted it.
